The selection of museums in Dubrovnik is also impressive and ideal for enthusiasts of this genre: there is a spacious Archaeological Museum with interesting exhibits such as an Egyptian mummy, Greeks vases and fascinating ancient amphorae; the Museum of History and Culture includes collections of paintings, furniture, textile items, ceramic objects, photographic materials, coins and armaments from various eras. The city's Maritime Museum is located at the fort in the heart of the harbor and offers an exhibition of ships, submarines, weaponry and objects found at sea.
A major tourist attraction is the local Aquarium that holds an abundance of fish, sea horses, sea snakes, scorpions, sea urchins. You can walk among the large and transparent aquariums and enjoy interesting explanations about the underwater riches of the Adriatic region.
During the sunny season there is nothing like enjoying the beautiful and well-kept beaches of Dubrovnik. Among the most famous beaches we will mention the much-loved Copacabana beach where it is also possible to rent a jet ski, try water skiing or sailing on a banana boat; you may sit with a refreshing cocktail in one of the nearby bars, and in the evening dance at the discotheques that face towards the coast.
One of the most highly recommended experiences is to take the cable car that glides above the city, from which you overlook the breathtaking views of Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands – the cable car climbs to the top of Srd Hill.
Also, 10 minutes away from the city by boat, you can reach the gorgeous island of Lokrum where there is a magical botanical garden adorned with eucalyptus and cacti; there is a salt lake that allows you to float on the water, and a variety of beauty spots, cafes and restaurants.
Do not leave Dubrovnik without having enjoyed the Croatian gastronomic experience: roast lamb, squid risotto, grilled sardines, beef soup with noodles, potato dough dumplings and other delicacies accompanied by locally produced fine wines, among which the star is Croatia's national wine, Prošek.
